Services
Psychiatric Evaluations
An evaluation includes a clinical interview and review of your history to identify and describe current emotional or behavioral concerns. This may include a formal diagnosis and always includes recommendations for next steps, which could involve medication options, therapy modalities, or adjunctive treatment.
1-2 hours
Psychotherapy
Dr. Black draws on psychoanalytic principles as well as techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mentalization-based therapy (MBT). Depending on individual needs, therapy may be short-term (6–12 sessions) or longer term. For clients receiving therapy, medication management is included.
45 minutes
Medication Management
These are considered follow-up appointments for already established patients. The purpose of these appointments is to assess medication regimens, identify potential drug interactions or side effects, provide education about psychoactive drugs, and adjust dosing and medications as needed.
30 or 45 minutes
Couples Therapy
Couples therapy can help couples navigate repetitive conflict, life and relationship transitions, family planning, and intimacy. Couples therapy is offered on a case-by-case basis, both for established and new clients. Therapy can be provided via a short-term series of 6-10 sessions, or on a longer-term basis.
